Releasing Alice Cooper & Deep Purple
Dear master tape friends,
Today we have some very special new releases for you. For those of you who are classic rock fans, we bring two albums by legendary artists of the genre.
Alice Cooper - The Revenge of Alice Cooper
‘The Revenge of Alice Cooper’, the long-awaited new album from the reunited original Alice Cooper Group, is officially out today through earMUSIC.
Marking their first full-length collaboration in over 50 years, the original lineup returns in fierce form, unleashing all the chaos, danger, and theatrical swagger that first defined their legacy and cemented their place in rock history.
The Revenge of Alice Cooper is a full-throttle plunge into the band’s dark and defiant world. Recorded with legendary producer and honorary sixth member Bob Ezrin, the album captures the energy of vintage Alice Cooper with a modern bite, a record built for the stage, the shadows, and the speakers turned up loud.
The release has earned this legendary group major attention, including several magazine cover stories across the globe, from Rolling Stone (France), Goldmine (USA), Rue Morgue (Canada), Sweden Rock (Sweden), Rock Hard (France), Classic Rock (Germany), Rock et Folk (France), and Guitar Part (France), among others. Extensive features, reviews and track spotlights in the US include Rolling Stone, Billboard, USA Today, AARP, Associated Press, American Songwriter and beyond.
To celebrate the release, the original Alice Cooper band — Alice Cooper, Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith, and Michael Bruce — reunited on stage yesterday for a sold-out album playback and Q&A at Rough Trade East in London. Hosted by Sir Tim Rice and featuring a special appearance by Bob Ezrin, the event gave fans a rare behind-the-scenes look at the making of the album and the group’s creative reunion more than 50 years after their last full-length together. The historic event was livestreamed globally via the Alice Cooper and earMUSICYouTube channels, as well as TalkShopLive, giving fans around the world front-row access to the exclusive pre-listening session and in-depth conversation with the band.
‘The Revenge of Alice Cooper’ arrives on the heels of its first three singles: ‘Black Mamba,’ featuring Robby Krieger of The Doors, ‘Wild Ones,’ inspired by the classic 1950s Brando film, and the snarling, riff-heavy ‘Up All Night.’ The album also features a poignant tribute to the band’s legacy: a posthumous guitar appearance from Glen Buxton on the track ‘What Happened To You,’ a moving nod to the group’s shared history and enduring bond.
About The Alice Cooper Group
The original Alice Cooper group – Alice Cooper (vocals), Michael Bruce (guitar), Dennis Dunaway (bass), Neal Smith (drums), and Glen Buxton (guitar) – redefined rock in the early 1970s, blending raw, hard-hitting music with shocking theatricality. With Bob Ezrin at the helm, they pioneered shock rock, delivering rebellious anthems, dark storytelling, and over-the-top stage shows featuring guillotines, snakes, and macabre theatrics. Albums like ‘Love It to Death’ (1971), ‘Killer’ (1971), ‘School’s Out’ (1972),and ‘Billion Dollar Babies’ (1973) turned them into superstars, producing legendary hits like ‘I’m Eighteen,’ ‘Elected,’ ‘School’s Out,’ and ‘No More Mr. Nice Guy’. Their mix of hard rock, glam, and horror made them one of the most influential and controversial bands of their era, leaving a permanent mark on rock history. Alice Cooper has sold countless millions of records worldwide and shaped rock history forever. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, their music remains as powerful and relevant as ever. Now, with ‘The Revenge of Alice Cooper’, the original band reunites for one more epic chapter, reclaiming the sound and legacy that made them legends.
Deep Purple - Rapture of the Deep
It’s no secret that ‘Rapture of the Deep’ isn’t the first album that comes to mind when listing Deep Purple’sclassics – and while it was met with interest at the time, it gradually faded from view. Despite solid sales, the album arrived during a period when there was little spotlight on the world of classic rock, and over the years, ‘Rapture of the Deep’ developed into an overlooked chapter in Deep Purple’s rich discography.
It’s equally true that this record, and the story behind it, marked a turning point – the quiet beginning of a run that would eventually lead to four consecutive No. 1 albums (2013, 2017, 2020, 2024) and the kind of success few bands experience even once, let alone decades into their career.
New insights by Kerrang! founder and Classic Rock magazine writer Geoff Barton pull back the curtain on a time when Deep Purple were navigating an uncertain era in the music industry that saw the downfall of many once-great artist careers – and unravel the strange chemistry that gave birth to Deep Purple’s 18th studio album.
As bassist Roger Glover reflects: “We were going through a bit of a hard time when we started the songwriting and production of ‘Rapture of the Deep’ and, strangely enough, we didn’t have a record company at that point. Let’s face it, we were a bit lost (…).”
But from that uncertain moment emerged an album bursting with sharp songwriting, masterful playing, and pure Deep Purple grit.
Now, newly mixed with the supervision of Roger Glover, analogue-mastered at renowned Chameleon Studios in Hamburg, and presented with bold new artwork, Rapture of the Deep finally shines with clarity and colour. “It’s a new album now to me.”, says Roger Glover. Fans will hear it blooming for the first time.
