‘Recording in a studio is always an intense experience involving a great deal of concentration and attention to detail. This is particularly true at the excellent Bauer Studios in Ludwigsburg, where every note played and each subtle nuance of sound created appears as if viewed through a magnifying glass. Thanks to the expertise of the fantastic sound engineer, Philipp Heck, every detail is captured with pure, distortion-free and natural-sounding clarity. Being able to share this experience live with an enthusiastic and attentive audience was something very special and unique. Now we have recorded not only the band’s special performance moment, but the excitement and energetic atmosphere of the entire concert. And all this in the very best quality - on tape! Yes - tape!! Analogue, baby…”

Bodek Janke

‘I have often asked myself what it is that separates the two worlds of stage performance and studio recording in such a way that many musicians believe these to represent two entirely different challenges, each requiring a different approach and strategy. On the one hand there is the interaction with the live audience which at times can generate emotions and feelings approaching ecstasy. On the other, there is the intense concentration on the fine detail of the performance in an unforgiving, perfection-seeking environment which strives to present everything as if on a silver platter. To me, however, these were never two different worlds but more like different continents of a single world. And the requirements of a direct-to-stereo live recording in front of an audience in the acoustically optimised environment of a recording studio, yet without any appreciable editing possibilities, bring those continents together in a very primordial, almost archaic naturalness. Pangaea.’

Philipp Bardenberg

‘It was a very special experience for me to perform this concert in front of a live audience in the famous Bauer Studios. To have it all recorded in analogue as well was a real bonus! Thanks to Philipp Heck for the wonderful sound. Thanks to Eva Bauer-Oppelland for her creative ideas. Thanks to Vadim Neselovskyi for his nimble fingers and the unexpected, interesting musical ‘detours’, which I followed with great enjoyment. And thanks to East Drive for their extremely positive energy.’
